Die Operette reist um die Welt. »Viktoria und ihr Husar« startet bei klirrender Kälte in einem sibirischen Kriegsgefangenenlager, um uns mit dem feschen Rittmeister Stefan Koltay und seinem lustigen Burschen Janczi über die amerikanischen Botschaften im putzigen Tokio (1. Akt) und ruppigen St. Petersburg (2. Akt) in die sonnigen, wonnigen Weinberge Südungarns heimzuführen. Die Flucht in die Heimat ist auch Stefans und Viktorias Flucht ins Glück. Irgendwas hatte sie entzweit. Dann brach der Krieg aus. Viktoria nahm den amerikanischen Botschafter, aber Stefan gab die Hoffnung nicht auf.

Sie reiben sich die Augen? Wir auch! Für Patric Seibert, der »Viktoria und ihr Husar« an der Oper Halle inszeniert, ist Fritz Löhner-Beda der exemplarische Operettenlibrettist der 1920er Jahre. Löhner-Beda und Paul Abraham starteten mit der Post-Weltkriegsgeschichte ihre erfolgreiche Jazz-Trilogie. Auf »Viktoria« (1930) folgten »Die Blume von Hawaii« (1931) und das »Fledermaus«-Remake »Ball im Savoy« (1932). Mit fetzigen Rhythmen, geistreichen Beziehungsduellen, dem Glamour der Großen Weiten Welt und untrüglichem Gespür für alles, was auf der Bühne zündet, erfanden sie die Operette neu.

Bei Stefan und Viktoria dachten sie an den Ersten Weltkrieg. Was, wenn man das Stück in die Zeit unmittelbar nach dem Zweiten verlegt? In die russischen Kriegsgefangenenlager von 1945. In das Japan nach Hiroshima. In das Leningrad des Kalten Krieges. In das Ungarn vor dem Volksaufstand. Warum ist Viktoria mit dem amerikanischen Botschafter davongelaufen? Seibert, der »Die Blume von Hawaii« in Coburg und einen Löhner-Beda-Abend in Cottbus inszeniert hat, gibt uns mit dieser Zeitverschiebung die Untertöne zurück, die das Stück für die Menschen von 1930 gehabt haben muss. Er arbeitet mit Franziska Krötenheerdt in der Titelrolle mit einer Darstellerin zusammen, die er seit langem kennt und die Operette für ihn wahrhaft und witzig macht. Und wenn Sie die Oper Halle verlassen, wird sie »Meine Mama, kommt aus Yokohama« und er »Mausi, süß warst Du heute Nacht« summen.

The operetta travels around the world. »Viktoria and her Hussar« starts in the freezing cold in a Siberian prisoner of war camp, to tell us about the American embassies in cute Tokyo (Act 1) and rough St. Petersburg (Act 2) with the dashing Rittmeister Stefan Koltay and his funny boy Janczi. to the sunny, blissful vineyards of southern Hungary. Escape to home is also Stefan and Viktoria's escape to happiness. Something had broken them. Then the war broke out. Viktoria took the American ambassador, but Stefan didn't give up hope.
