The poetic scenario in which the songs (Lieder) of Jean Sibelius take place is that of nature, of environments and men, but also of fairytale landscapes populated by unreal characters. The music is not subjugated to literature, Sibelius' intention was to bring to the concert halls the world of nature sung by Scandinavian authors, set in an atmosphere of sounds and colors that only music could provide.

El escenario poético en el que se desarrollan las canciones (Lieder) de Jean Sibelius es el de la naturaleza, el de los ambientes y los hombres, pero también el de los paisajes de cuentos poblados por personajes irreales. La música no está subyugada a la literatura, la intención de Sibelius era llevar a las salas de concierto el mundo de la naturaleza cantado por los autores escandinavos, ambientado en una atmósfera de sonidos y colores que sólo la música podía proporcionar.
