One has it, the other doesn't: the famous Viennese blood. After the countess and vivacious Viennese Gabriele left her good, honest man Count Balduin von Zedlau, the ambassador from the small state of Reuss-Greiz-Schleiz mutated into a Don Juan: he not only flirted with the dancer Cagliari, but also with Pepi Pleininger, his servant's girlfriend , at. Gabriele returns jealous and the Count has his hands full keeping his love affairs secret from each other. Johann Strauss' (1825-1899) last operetta, which he put together with Adolf Müller from earlier compositions and which was first performed in Vienna after the death of the celebrated waltz king, nevertheless advanced to become one of the most popular and successful classics of the genre. With immortal melodies such as "Out there in Hietzing there's a Remasuri", "Grüß dich Gott, duliebes Nesterl" and the eponymous waltz "Wiener Blut" the irresistible Viennese charm unfolds in three-four time, in which no foot remains still. The authors of “The Merry Widow” created a libretto full of wit and esprit full of complications and intrigues.


The young director Jasmin Sarah Zamani, who staged among others with great success “Hauptling Abendwind” and “Status Quo” at the Hof Theater, will stage this love dance against the background of the Congress of Vienna with a lot of humour, speed and tongue-in-cheek irony.
