The Teatro de la Zarzuela closes this 2018-2019 season with the show Zarzuela in Dance; a theatrical show with a difference, envisaged as a party where Zarzuela and dance are celebrated in equal doses. It’s a party with a story-line that takes a journey through possibly the most attractive scenes of dancing and dance in the history of the Zarzuela; in the company, of course, of the singing which we couldn’t do without, and the magic of a text which also dances, conceived by Álvaro Tato, the muti-faceted and acclaimed dramatist. It’s a matter of sailing, with the wind behind us and the sails unfurled, over the infinite oceans of the masterpieces which were composed, and meant to be danced, by the indisputable maestros of the genre on both sides of the pond: Bretón, Chapí, Chueca, Vives, Giménez, Serrano, Calleja and Barrera, Soutullo and Vert, Lleó, Fernández Caballero, Roig, with the added flirtation of the odd new popular song.
