Stefan Herheim

Stage Director, Intendant Theater an der Wien As one of the most sought-after opera directors of his generation, Stefan Herheim has taken over the directorship of the Theater an der Wien, the stagione opera house of the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien, since the 2022/23 season. After training as a cellist and singer and working at the opera in his home city of Oslo, among others, Herheim studied Directing Music Theatre with Götz Friedrich at the University of Music and Theatre in Hamburg.
