Alexander Kasyanov was born in Moscow. In 1996 he graduated with honours from the Gnesin Music College and in 1999 from the Russian Academy of the Performing Arts (RATI previously GITIS). From 1999-2001 he did a postgraduate course at the Academy’s faculty of vocal art. From 2000-03, he was a soloist at the State Academic Moscow Operetta Theatre. From 2003-05 he was a postgraduate at the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Centre, where he made his debut as Grigory Griaznoy (Rimsky-Korsakov’s “The Tsar’s Bride”). He took part in the master classes of Mstislav Rostropovich, Galina Vishnevskaya, Boris Pokrovsky, Mauro Trombetta, Eugene Kon, Tito Capobianco, Sherill Milnes, Mikhail Yurovski, Placido Domingo, and Pavel Lisitsyn and Evgeniy Nesterenko. Since 2005, he has been a soloist at the Galina Vish
