WINTER IN THE SIGN OF NIGHT AT KARLŠTEJN

Opava - There is no better time to visit the theater than the pre-Christmas one, which means that the December program at the Silesian Theater is full. The performance alternates between performances, and lovers of opera, operetta, drama and even musicals will enjoy themselves. In December, fans of the theatrical world can visit, for example, the audience's very popular operas Carmen and Attila, the operetta Countess Marica, the light comedy Stories of Ordinary Madness or the classics from Molière's pen The Healthy Sick. However, the biggest delicacy is still waiting for the audience. We are talking about the famous Czech film musical Night at Karlštejn, which was shot by director Zdeněk Podskalský in 1973 on the theme of the play of the same name by Jaroslav Vrchlický. Rehearsals of the musical performed by the Opava Opera Ensemble, directed by Dagmar Hlubková, are now in full swing. In the role of Charles IV. Zdeněk Kapl will perform in alternation with Roman Harok, Eliška Pomořanská played by Tereza Kavecká or Ol'ga Bezačinská. The premiere is scheduled for Sunday, December 18, and if you're lucky in our competition, you can win tickets to the show, which will take place on Friday the 30th.

The musical Mrazík will probably be a visitor's hit

It looks like the fresh premiere of the musical Mrazík will become a visitor's hit. The familiar film fairy tale, which came to life on the stage of the Silesian Theater under the direction of Dagmar Hlubková, is the easy-footed piece that has a chance to attract small and large audiences, preferably the whole family. There is certainly no need to remind anyone of the story of the good and hardworking Nastěnka and grandfather Mrazík. It has been one of the film attributes of the Christmas holidays of most Czech households for many years. And the director D. Hlubková tried to definitely keep the fast-paced film trend. So stage technicians also have a big share in the success of the production this time. Almost none of the legendary characters and scenes are missing in the production full of story and songs. Whether it's Hříbeček's grandfather, Ivan's bear's head, a cottage on a chicken leg, a robber and their clubs or a blossoming dry stump… choir and of course all soloists. Many of them demonstrated great abilities for parody and grotesque. Viewers can rightly look forward to Tereza Kavecká's Board, alternated by Olga Bezačinská, Ivánka by Dušan Růžička or Roman Harok, Marfuša by Ilona Kaplová or Simona Mrázová, Baba Jagu by Michal Pavel Vojta or Zdeněk Kapl. Mrazík is played alternately by Evžen Trupar and Martin Táborský. An important mover of the story this time is the narrator, who was excellently portrayed by Zdeňka Mervová, alternated by Ivana Lebedová. We could continue the list of colorful and grotesque characters, there are a number of them, mostly well cast and rendered. Of course, we cannot miss the performance of the theater orchestra under the baton of Tomáš Hanák. The scene - Martin Víšek, seems a bit inconsistent, but Eliška Zapletalová's costumes meet most expectations. Let's just remind that the original film music was added by the creators of the musical, Ostrava musician Boris Urbánek and actor Jiří Sedláček (lyrics), a number of new musical numbers. Those who expected higher goals or directorial innovations from the new production were apparently disappointed to leave Mrazík's premiere. However, the fans of the film Mrazík definitely got their money's worth and saw most of the replicas and gags that have almost become popular in our country over the years.
