Hailed for her voice of "gleaming black lacquer," mezzo-soprano Katherine Lerner wields her richly hued instrument with sensitivity and expression. Ms. Lerner is graduate of the Lyric Opera of Chicago's Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Opera Center, where she sang numerous roles on the mainstage during her three year tenure. She has also worked at the Metropolitan Opera, understudying Olga in Eugene Onegin and Bersi in Andrea Chenier. Currently, she is a Dramatic Mezzo at the Landestheater Linz. Prior to her acceptance into the Ryan Opera Center, Miss Lerner received her Masters in Opera from the Curtis Institute of Music, and her Bachelors in Voice from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. Miss Lerner is the recipient of a Richard F. Gold Career Grant, as well as awards from the Opera Columbu
