Alexander Schulz was born in Berlin. After studies at the National Academy of Music in Odessa, he was a member of the opera studio at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf (2003), where he debuted as Erik (Wagner, Der fliegende Holländer). From 2004 – 2007, he was engaged at the Kammeroper Dresden, singing the roles of Tamino (Mozart, Die Zauberflöte) and Don Ramiro (Rossini, La Cenerentola). In 2007, he guest appeared at the Landestheater Neustrelitz, Germany, as Erik and the Steersman (Der fliegende Holländer). In 2008, he became laureate of the Boris Shtokolov International Vocal Competition in St. Petersburg. In September 2008, he made his debut at the Odessa National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet, Ukraine, where he subsequently obtained an engagement. He has been a frequent
