He has a beautiful voice, with a naturally expressive and moving timbre. Perhaps some more passionate impetus would benefit him: but I understand his concern not to fall into emphasis. Same class and same control in the singing of Daniela Dessì, excellent Maddalena, who tries to give her character the depth that she does not possess, letting her voice flow in beautiful and sweetly linked notes and lending the protagonist a noble figure.
