Nicht nur in die Kunst und Bildhauerei hat die Geschichte von Apollo und Daphne aus den „Metamorphosen“ des römischen Dichters Ovid Einzug gefunden. Auch viele Komponisten des Barock widmeten sich dem Mythos der Verwandlung Daphnes in einen Lorbeerbaum: so beispielsweise Georg Friedrich Händel und Carl Heinrich Graun in ihren Kantaten „Apollo e Dafne“ (HWV 122) und „Apollo amante di Dafne“. Diese mythischen barocken Schmuckstücke werden nun präsentiert von dem tschechischen Bariton Tomáš Král sowie der international für die Schönheit und Intensität ihrer Stimme gefeierten belgischen Sopranistin Sophie Junker, die zuletzt 2021 mit einem reinen Händel-Programm bei Klangvokal in Dortmund glänzte.

The story of Apollo and Daphne from the “Metamorphoses” by the Roman poet Ovid has not only found its way into art and sculpture. Many Baroque composers also devoted themselves to the myth of Daphne's transformation into a laurel tree: for example Georg Friedrich Handel and Carl Heinrich Graun in their cantatas "Apollo e Dafne" (HWV 122) and "Apollo amante di Dafne". These mythical baroque gems are now presented by the Czech baritone Tomáš Král and the Belgian soprano Sophie Junker, internationally acclaimed for the beauty and intensity of her voice, who last shone in 2021 with a pure Handel program at Klangvokal in Dortmund.
