Quite a lot going on on the Greek island of Naxos. Ariadne mourns her unfaithful lover Theseus, but Bacchus wants to comfort her so much. Venus is the wedding planner and has her hands full until the right couples finally come together. In 1726 Johann Joseph Fux composed a splendid “Festa Teatrale” to accompany this hustle and bustle: “La corona d'Arianna”. Alfredo Bernardini and his Zefiro musicians are continuing their Fux series in Graz. The solo voices are splendid, the staging by Adrian Schvarzstein is clever, and the Arnold Schoenberg Choir is exhilarating.
