Das Phantom der Oper 2020

The Phantom of the Opera by the team of authors Deborah Sasson and Jochen Sautter has been captivating audiences on over 500 European stages since 2010 . This new musical production, which was created for the 100th birthday of the 1910 novel "Le Fantôme de l'Opéra" by Gaston Leroux , is one of the most successful touring musicals in Europe. The production stands out from all previous musical interpretations of the literary material in that it adheres closer to the novel and incorporates well-known opera quotes in parts of the music composed by Sasson. After the outstanding success of the 2019/20 tour and at the request of her fans, world star Deborah Sasson
won a second time to play the role of Christine on stage in the 2020/21 season. The interaction of the singer with Germany's number 1 musical star, Uwe Kröger , who continues to play the role of the phantom, was celebrated by the audience and the press everywhere. Christine is torn between two fascinating men, her mysterious mentor, the Phantom of the Opera , and her childhood sweetheart, the rich and attractive Count Raoul. A real musical highlight!

The spectacular stage design, which lives both from the effective, three-dimensional video projections by the internationally acclaimed multimedia artist Daniel Stryjecki and from the grandiose stage elements built by Michael Scott of the Metropolitan Opera in New York, has been revised again with new elements. The dramatic fall of the chandelier, the mysterious tryst on the roof of the opera, the underground boat trip, the eerie encounter in the cemetery and the terrifying underworld of the opera are now presented even more vividly.
The role of Christine is interpreted by the internationally acclaimed Boston soprano and Echo Klassik award winner Deborah Sasson . Her multifaceted and powerful voice is perfect for this mixture of opera and musical. The phantom is played by Uwe Kröger , who has captured the hearts of audiences since his breakthrough in the role of Death in the world premiere of Elisabeth. Among other things, he played the leading roles in the premieres of Rebecca, Mozart, The Visit of the Old Lady, Heidi and in the German-language premieres of Sunset Boulevard, Miss Saigon, Doctor Dolittle, The Addams Family and Napoleon in London's West End. Now he slips into the role of the world feared and torn phantom in this production.Jochen Sautter plays the rich, handsome Count Raoul de Chagny. The large ensemble of selected singers, dancers and actors from German-speaking countries is accompanied live by an 18-piece orchestra.

Content: The story takes place in the Paris Opera. The soloist Carlotta is ill, the choir girl Christine steps in and sings so clearly and flawlessly that something cannot be right here. That's right, the phantom secretly teaches Christine how to sing, expecting her love in return. But Christine's heart belongs to Count Raoul de Chagny. The new opera star has to make a decision. Her passion for music speaks for the Phantom, her heart for Raoul. The rest is familiar: a shattered chandelier, a car chase...
