Carthage, in mythical times. The hero Aeneas, who fled from the burning Troy and reached North Africa with his ships across the Mediterranean, meets the beautiful Queen Dido. They are filled with love - and yet they do not come together because fate calls. Aeneas moves to Italy to found a new empire there, while the abandoned Dido has no way out.
