The Magic Flute  composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is one of the most loved operas in the world. Its message is how good and beautiful a person can give birth to, if there is wisdom and madness as travel companions, a measure of both. The magic flute opens a person's special ability to imagine worlds, create new stories and believe in fairy tales.

Oulu theater's Taikahuilu brings a classic work to the stage using the means of a theatrical fairy tale. The ancient characters of the story wander in the depths of despair, searching for love and reaching for it. The heroes must make a journey to find the light of life. Fortunately, this journey doesn't have to be done without in-game and helpful guides. The magic flute transports the past to the mythical world and from there to the utopia of the future.

Now if ever we need this joy and hope emanating from people, which the whole Magic Flute opera reaches for. Serious and light-hearted alternate in Mozart's composition, which invites and seduces its listeners into play, like life itself.

Johanna Isokoski (Pamina) and Tuomas Miettola (Tamino) sing in the main roles of Taikahuilu . Marika Hölttä , Niklas Spångberg , Tomi Punkeri and Sadelilja Larimo sing in other roles . The opera is directed by Heta Haanperä and the conductors are Oulu Sinfonia's chief conductor Rumon Gamba and Finnish conductor Erkki Lasonpalo. The performance language of the opera is Finnish and the opera has subtitles in Finnish and English.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozartin säveltämä Taikahuilu on yksi maailman rakastetuimmista oopperoista. Sen sanoma on siinä, miten hyvää ja kaunista ihminen voi synnyttää, jos matkakumppaneina on viisautta ja hulluutta, molempia mitallinen. Taikahuilu avaa ihmisen erityisen kyvyn kuvitella maailmoita, luoda uusia tarinoita ja uskoa satuihin.

Oulun teatterin Taikahuilu nostaa näyttämölle klassikkoteoksen teatterisadun keinoin. Tarinan ikiaikaiset hahmot vaeltavat epätoivon syövereissä rakkautta haroen ja siihen kurkottaen. Sankareiden on tehtävä matka, jotta elämänvalo löytyy. Onneksi tätä matkaa ei tarvitse tehdä ilman peliin puuttuvia ja auttavia oppaita. Taikahuilu kuljettaa menneisyyden myyttiseen maailmaan ja sieltä tulevaisuuden utopiaan.

Nyt jos koskaan tarvitsemme tätä ihmisestä kumpuavaa iloa ja toivoa, johon koko Taikahuilu-ooppera kurottaa. Vakava ja kepeä vuorottelevat Mozartin sävellyksessä, joka kutsuu sekä viettelee kuulijaansa mukaan leikkiin, kuin elämä itse.

Taikahuilun päärooleissa laulavat Johanna Isokoski (Pamina) ja Tuomas Miettola (Tamino). Muissa rooleissa laulavat muun muassa Marika Hölttä, Niklas Spångberg, Tomi Punkeri ja Sadelilja Larimo. Oopperan ohjaa Heta Haanperä ja kapellimestareina toimivat Oulu Sinfonian ylikapellimestari Rumon Gamba ja suomalaiskapellimestari Erkki Lasonpalo. Oopperan esityskieli on suomi ja oopperassa on tekstitykset suomeksi ja englanniksi.
