Interview with director Aika Karapetyan about the production of Charles Gounod's opera "Faust". Premiere at the Latvian National Opera on September 30, 2016.

Doctor Faust is tormented by the feeling he’s wasted his life. The mysterious Mephistopheles promises to make all of the aging scientist’s wishes come true - in exchange for Faust’s soul . . . Charles Gounod’s opera, which was inspired by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s famous tragedy, saw its world premier in Paris in 1859. Today, director Aik Karapetian’s has put together a production in the late-gothic aesthetic, also employing silent movie techniques in the style of German expressionism.

The production of Faust recieved The Great Music Award of Latvia as the Best Musical Production 2016.

Šarla Guno opera, kas tapusi, iedvesmojoties no Johana Volfganga fon Gētes slavenās traģēdijas, savu pasaules pirmizrādi piedzīvoja 1859. gadā Parīzē. Šodien režisors Aiks Karapetians ir veidojis iestudējumu vēlās gotikas estētikā, izmantojot arī mēmā kino paņēmienus. Vācu ekspresionisms.

Fausta iestudējums   saņēma Latvijas Lielo mūzikas balvu kā labākais muzikālais iestudējums 2016.
