An intimate tragedy along the stream, La Belle Meunière offers the quintessence of Schubertian art. It's the story of a young worker working in a watermill and falling in love with his boss' daughter. This story told in twenty moving songs, here it is interpreted by the most gifted baritone of his generation, Huw Montague Rendall, who was a noticed Papageno at the OnR in December 2022.
