Giuseppe Verdi, the Shakespeare of musical theater, turned from an internationally successful Italian maestro (his works were premiered in various cities on the Apennine Peninsula, in Paris and London) with Troubadour , which is considered the pearl of his oeuvre, into a real king of opera, who won and convinced hearts in all latitudes and longitudes of the world. Like few others, Verdi understood human nature, which is torn between immeasurable grandeur and unimaginable misery. The audience at the premiere received the Troubadour with acclamation, although the performance was reportedly not first-rate. The story, which takes place at the beginning of the 15th century (during one of the many civil wars on the Iberian Peninsula), enchanted the audience. Troubadourit is an opera about war and death, but also an opera of great emotions and love.
Ferrando and Azucena tell about the kidnapped and murdered brother of Count Luna. Luna falls in love with Leonora, but the young woman does not return his feelings, as she loves the troubadour Manrico, and is ready to do anything, even to die, for her love, imbued with great romantic emotions and expectations. For Count Luna, his unfulfilled love for Leonora is the reason for a duel with Manrico. Manrico is not only his rival in the fight for Leonora, but there is also a political conflict between the two men. The dispute between the husbands is fueled by the desire to avenge the death of the child, which was perpetrated by Manrico's mother, Azucena. Count Luna allows hatred to suffocate love, Leonora gives her space in death.

The operatic musical delicacy, one of the most famous and most frequently performed works of the great Verdi, will come to life on our stage in a production by Yulia Roschin, which will shed light especially on the view of the story through Azucena's eyes. The orchestra will be conducted by a brilliant interpreter of Italian opera literature and our faithful colleague Gianluca Marcianò.

Giuseppe Verdi, Shakespeare glasbenega gledališča, se je iz mednarodno uspešnega italijanskega maestra (njegova dela so doživljala premiere v različnih mestih na Apeninskem polotoku, v Parizu in Londonu) s Trubadurjem, ki velja za biser njegovega opusa, spremenil v pravega opernega kralja, ki je osvojil in prepričal srca na vseh svetovnih zemljepisnih dolžinah in širinah. Verdi je kot malokdo razumel človeško naravo, ki je razpeta med neizmerno veličastje in komaj predstavljivo bedo. Občinstvo na premieri je Trubadurja sprejelo z aklamacijo, čeprav izvedba menda ni bila prvovrstna. Zgodba, ki se dogaja na začetku 15. stoletja (med eno od mnogih državljanskih vojn na Iberskem polotoku), je namreč začarala občinstvo. Trubadur je opera o vojni in smrti, hkrati pa tudi opera velikih čustev in ljubezni.
Ferrando in Azucena pripovedujeta o ugrabljenem in umorjenem bratu grofa Lune. Luno prevzema ljubezen do Leonore, a mlada ženska mu čustev ne vrača, saj ljubi trubadurja Manrica, za svojo ljubezen, prežeto z velikimi romantičnimi čustvi in pričakovanji, pa je pripravljena storiti vse, tudi umreti. Za grofa Luno je neizpolnjena ljubezen do Leonore povod za dvoboj z Manricom. Manrico ni le njegov tekmec v boju za Leonoro, ampak med moškima vlada tudi politični konflikt. Spor med možema podžiga še želja po maščevanju smrti otroka, ki jo je zakrivila Manricova mati, Azucena. Grof Luna dopusti, da sovraštvo zaduši ljubezen, Leonora ji omogoči prostor v smrti.

Operna glasbena poslastica, eno najslavnejših in najpogosteje izvajanih del velikega Verdija, bo na našem odru zaživela v inscenaciji Yulie Roschina, ki bo osvetlila zlasti pogled na zgodbo z Azuceninimi očmi. Orkestru bo dirigiral sijajni interpret italijanske operne literature in naš zvesti sodelavec Gianluca Marcianò.
