“Da un celebre Maestro”, it was to be written by a famous master: an opera on the occasion of the coronation of Emperor Leopold II as king from Bohemia. Only after Antonio Salieri turned down the offer did Mozart receive the commission. La clemenza di Tito was his last opera.
