Opera seria in two acts by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Libretto by Caterino Mazzolà after Pietro Metastasio In Italian with German & English surtitles Emperor Titus steers the Roman Empire with generosity. He would like to embody a new non-violent type of ruler and is wise enough not to let emotions guide him when governing. But he is torn apart by the conflict between power and humanity. In stark contrast to Vitellia, the daughter of the former emperor, who, in her insane pursuit of esteem, skillfully manipulates her fellow men in order to get onto the imperial throne herself. But in the end she loses control. For the first time in 40 years, Mozart's opera seria, in which he has put all his skills, can be experienced again in Karlsruhe. His last opera was in the 19th century. Century almost as successful as THE MAGIC FLUTE and lets us experience feelings of love, loyalty, friendship and betrayal. At the same time, the work holds great roles for our young singers Katherine Broderick, Uliana Alexyuk, Dilara Baştar, Kristina Stanek, Jesus Garcia, Cameron Becker and Yang Xu. Patrick Kinmonth is a creative all-rounder and has enjoyed great success as a painter and photographer, as the creative director of British Vogue and exhibition curator, as an author and, last but not least, as an outfitter and director of opera productions in Berlin, Cologne, London, Amsterdam, Antwerp, Vienna and Zurich . Voted “Innovator of the year” by the Wall Street Journal in 2012, he is now working in Karlsruhe for the first time.
