Elina Garanča is one of the greatest opera stars of today. This Latvian mezzo-soprano attracted attention already in her second year of studies when she played the role of Giovane Seymour in Donizetti's opera Anna Bolena in ten days. The victory at the Mirjam Helin International Singing Competition in Finland and the role of Maddalena in Verdi's Rigoletto in 1999 opened the door to world opera stages for her. Her interpretations of Mozart's heroines, Belkantist opera repertoire, as well as sacred works are equally successful. She performed in the most important opera houses, such as New York's Metropolitan Opera, London's Covent Garden Royal Opera, Vienna and Bavarian State Opera, Wiener Konzerthaus, Vienna Musikverein, Grand Théâtre in Geneva, Semper Oper in Dresden, Opera Garnier in Paris, etc. Riccardo Muti, Kurt Masur, Sir Roger Norrington, Marris Jansons, Nicolaus Harnoncourt, Fabio Luisi, Marco Armiliato, Anna Netrebko, Ramón Vargas, Rolando Villazón, Bryn Terfel, René Pape... are just some of the famous conductors and singers with whom she has collaborated in her career so far. Elina Garanča jedna je od najvećih opernih zvijezda današnjice. Ta letonska mezzosopranistica pažnju je privukla već na drugoj godini studija kad je u deset dana spremila ulogu Giovane Seymour u Donizettijevoj operi Anna Bolena. Pobjeda na Međunarodnom pjevačkom natjecanju Mirjam Helin u Finskoj i uloga Maddalene u Verdijevu Rigolettu 1999. godine, otvaraju joj vrata svjetskih opernih pozornica. Podjednako su uspješne njezine interpretacije Mozartovih heroina, belkantističkog opernog repertoara, kao i sakralnih djela. Nastupala je u najvažnijim opernim kućama, kao što su njujorška Metropolitan opera, londonska Kraljevska opera Covent Garden, Bečka i Bavarska državna opera, Wiener Konzerthaus, bečki Musikverein, Grand Théâtre u Ženevi, Semper Oper u Dresdenu, pariška Opera Garnier itd.
