Créé à Milan, au teatro Regio Ducale, le 26 décembre 1772

Bousculant les canons de l’opera seria, Mozart compose, à seulement 16 ans, Lucio Silla exprimant les passions et les tourments de l’âme humaine. Dans cet opéra commandé par le Teatro Regio Ducale de Milan, les modulations audacieuses et subtiles des voix, une orchestration raffinée et les accents solennels du choeur soulignent les interrogations de ce jeune dictateur romain auquel le compositeur confie ses propres questionnements intérieurs : sacrifier sa liberté ou renoncer au pouvoir ? La mise en scène tout en clairs-obscurs d’Emmanuelle Bastet dévoile, par un subtil jeu de miroirs, tout le génie dramatique de Mozart. Et c’est la britannique Jane Glover, spécialiste reconnue de ce répertoire, qui assurera la direction. du 23 septembre au 3 octobre 2013

Shaking up the canons of opera seria, Mozart composed, at only 16 years old, Lucio Silla expressing the passions and torments of the human soul. In this opera commissioned by the Teatro Regio Ducale in Milan, the audacious and subtle modulations of the voices, a refined orchestration and the solemn accents of the choir underline the questions of this young Roman dictator to whom the composer entrusts his own inner questions: sacrificing his freedom or relinquish power? Emmanuelle Bastet's chiaroscuro staging reveals, through a subtle play of mirrors, all of Mozart's dramatic genius. And it is the British Jane Glover, a recognized specialist in this repertoire, who will be in charge. from September 23 to October 3, 2013
