Manon is attracted to Des Grieux in a town in provincial France, but is also tempted by the wealthy Geronte and runs away to Paris to live with him. Des Grieux comes to find her and wins her back, but Geronte has the couple exiled to the deserts of Louisiana where Manon dies in Des Grieux’s arms. Portraying the central couple, in Hui He and Massimo Giordano we have two of the most sought-after Puccini singers on the operatic stage today.
