Una prima mondiale apre la Stagione del 2005: il Mosè in Egitto, opera seria di Rossini, nell'edizione critica curata da Charles Brauner per la fondazione Rossini di Pesaro in prima esecuzione assoluta. Il melodramma, inoltre, non era mai stato eseguito in Sardegna. Tratta della vicenda biblica di Mosè e degli ebrei condannati a restare in Egitto per ordine del Faraone, intrecciata con l'amore di Osiride e dell'ebrea Elcia, fino al noto epilogo con lo sterminio degli eserciti egizi nel mar Rosso. Ebbe un buon successo alla prima, nel 1818, al Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, tranne che per il terzo atto, quando si bloccò il meccanismo di "apertura delle acque" in scena. Fu ripresa dall'autore l'anno successivo, con l'ampliamento del terzo atto.

A world premiere opens the 2005 season: the Moses in Egypt, a serious work by Rossini, in the critical edition edited by Charles Brauner for the Rossini Foundation in Pesaro in world premiere. Furthermore, the opera had never been performed in Sardinia. It deals with the biblical story of Moses and the Jews condemned to remain in Egypt by order of the Pharaoh, intertwined with the love of Osiris and the Jewish Elcia, up to the well-known epilogue with the extermination of the Egyptian armies in the Red Sea. It had a good success at the premiere, in 1818, at the San Carlo Theater in Naples, except for the third act, when the "opening of the waters" mechanism on stage stopped. It was resumed by the author the following year, with the extension of the third act.
