<Nabucco> is a work that brought great fame as a composer to Verdi, who suffered from successive failures and misfortunes in his youth. The Korea National Opera will present <Nabucco> as the last work in 2023, which Verdi later said, “With this work, my full-fledged artist life began.” Through <Nabucco>, the audience will be able to appreciate the message that 'life is about looking ahead with hope'. The highlight of this work, 'Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves', will enthrall the audience with the cascading sound of a large-scale choir and orchestra. Director Stefano Poda, who unfolds the stage into a space of a new dimension, and Hong Seok-won, a conductor with soft charisma, will collaborate once again following 2021. At the time, this work, which surprised the audience with costumes using traditional Korean patterns and a magnificent stage, is expected to leave a deep impression once again with overwhelming scenes including large-scale crowd scenes.

<나부코>는 젊은 시절 잇따른 실패와 불행으로 힘들어 했던 베르디에게 작곡가로서의 큰 명성을 안겨준 작품이다. 국립오페라단은 훗날 베르디가 “이 작품으로 나의 본격적인 예술가 인생이 시작되었다”고 자평한 <나부코>를 2023년 마지막 작품으로 선보인다. <나부코>를 통해 ‘삶은 희망을 안고 앞을 바라보는 것’이라는 메시지를 객석에서 직접 음미할 수 있을 것이다. 이 작품의 하이라이트라 할 수 있는 ‘히브리 노예들의 합창’은 대규모의 합창단과 오케스트라가 펼쳐내는 폭포수 같은 사운드로 관객들을 뜨거운 감동에 빠져들게 할 것이다. 무대를 새로운 차원의 공간으로 펼쳐 보이는 연출가 스테파노 포다와 부드러운 카리스마의 지휘자 홍석원이 2021년에 이어 다시 한 번 호흡을 맞춘다. 당시 한국의 전통 문양을 활용한 의상과 웅장한 스케일의 무대로 관객들에게 놀라움을 선사했던 이 작품은 대규모 군중신을 비롯한 압도적인 장면들로 다시 한 번 깊은 여운을 안겨 줄 예정이다.
