For the young baritone and former Regensburg Cathedral Sparrow Benjamin Appl, the music of Johann Sebastian Bach is an affair of the heart. For his first collaboration with the traditional Zurich orchestra, he selected individual arias from Bach's cantatas. With the 2nd Brandenburg Concerto, the Zurich Chamber Orchestra is also presenting a popular classic from its program collection, since the Brandenburg Concertos have been part of the traditional concert repertoire for many years. Powerful and dynamic sounds at the turn of the year can also be heard with the eccentric E flat major symphony by Bach's son Carl Philipp Emanuel. The second half of the program, dedicated to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, is humorous and lively. Here, Appl and the ZKO juxtapose arias from Mozart's operas The Magic Flute and Don Giovanni with the Divertimento in F major for strings and two horns, known as "A musical fun". A lively turn of the year is guaranteed and the last aria "Fin ch' han dal vino" in particular is a great way to toast the New Year.

Für den jungen Bariton und ehemaligen Regensburger Domspatzen Benjamin Appl ist die Musik von Johann Sebastian Bach eine Herzensangelegenheit. Für seine erste Zusammenarbeit mit dem Zürcher Traditionsorchester hat er einzelne Arien aus Bachs Kantaten ausgewählt. Das Zürcher Kammerorchester präsentiert zudem mit dem 2. Brandenburgischen Konzert einen beliebten Klassiker aus seiner Programmsammlung, gehören doch die Brandenburgischen Konzerte bereits seit vielen Jahren zum angestammten Konzertrepertoire. Kraftvolle und dynamische Klänge zum Jahreswechsel ertönen ausserdem mit der exzentrischen Es-Dur Sinfonie des Bachsohns Carl Philipp Emanuel. Humorvoll und beschwingt geht es dann in der zweiten Programmhälfte zu, die Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart gewidmet ist. Hier setzen Appl und das ZKO Arien aus Mozarts Opern Die Zauberflöte und Don Giovanni dem Divertimento in F-Dur für Streicher und zwei Hörner, bekannt unter dem Namen «Ein musikalischer Spass», gegenüber. Für einen schwungvollen Jahreswechsel ist gesorgt und insbesondere mit der letzten Arie «Fin ch‘ han dal vino» lässt sich anschliessend bestens auf das Neue Jahr anstossen.
