Słynny włoski zespół muzyki dawnej Il Giardino Armonico pod dyrekcją Govanniego Antoniego uzupełni program 51. edycji festiwalu Wratislavia Cantans o dzieła kolejnych słynnych twórców z rodziny Bachów – Wilhelma Friedemanna i Carla Philippa Emanuela. Tym razem, w przeciwieństwie do koncertu Vox Luminis, prezentującego twórczość wokalną przodków słynnego Johanna Sebastiana, czas na muzykę przeznaczoną na same instrumenty.

Johann Sebastian Bach zadbał o gruntowną edukację muzyczną swoich synów, którzy szybko rozpoczęli karierę. Cieszyli się niezwykłym powodzeniem i popularnością wśród ówczesnych słuchaczy – o dziwo, większą niż ich ojciec, w którego muzyce świat zakochał się dopiero w XIX wieku dzięki Felixowi Mendelssohnowi. Sami synowie kantora z Lipska, choć go cenili, to często wspominali, że przypomina on „starą i niemodną już perukę”. Określenie to, niezbyt eleganckie, jest jednak w pełni zrozumiałe – w czasie, gdy synowie odkrywali najnowsze wówczas techniki kompozytorskie, łącząc barok z rodzącym się klasycyzmem, ojciec nadal komponował w stylu tradycyjnym. Największą popularnością wśród słuchaczy cieszyli się oczywiście dwaj najstarsi synowie Johanna Sebastiana. Wilhelm Friedrich Bach został uznany przez swojego ojca za najzdolniejszego z synów. Tworząc niezwykle nowatorskie jak na tamte czasy utwory, pragnął udowodnić słuchaczom, że sławę swoją zyskuje dzięki umiejętnościom, a nie nazwisku. Potrzeba ciągłego odkrywania nowości w muzyce towarzyszyła również Carlowi Philippowi Emanuelowi – z tego też powodu po wielu latach zrezygnował on z nudnej i ograniczającej pracy nadwornego kompozytora Fryderyka II i przeniósł się do Hamburga, gdzie rozwinął skrzydła.

Uzupełnieniem programu piątkowego koncertu Il Giardino Armonico będą dzieła Georga Philippa Telemanna i Josepha Haydna. Ten pierwszy z rodziną Johanna Sebastiana Bacha był związany także na gruncie prywatnym – został ojcem chrzestnym Carla Philippa Emanuela. Twórczość drugiego z wymienionych kompozytorów reprezentuje już styl klasyczny, który niewątpliwie nie powstałby bez muzyki synów lipskiego kantora.

The famous Italian early music ensemble Il Giardino Armonico conducted by Govanni Antoni will complement the program of the 51st edition of the Wratislavia Cantans festival with works by other famous composers from the Bach family - Wilhelm Friedemann and Carl Philipp Emanuel. This time, unlike the Vox Luminis concert, presenting the vocal work of the ancestors of the famous Johann Sebastian, it's time for music for instruments only .

Johann Sebastian Bach took care of the thorough musical education of his sons, who quickly started their careers. They enjoyed extraordinary success and popularity among the listeners of that time - surprisingly, more than their father, whose music the world fell in love with in the 19th century thanks to Felix Mendelssohn. The sons of the cantor from Leipzig, although they valued him, often mentioned that he resembled "an old and outdated wig". This term, not very elegant, is, however, fully understandable - at a time when the sons were discovering the latest compositional techniques of the time, combining the Baroque with the nascent classicism, the father continued to compose in the traditional style. Of course, Johann Sebastian's two eldest sons enjoyed the greatest popularity among the listeners. Wilhelm Friedrich Bach was recognized by his father as the most talented of sons. By creating works that were extremely innovative for those times, he wanted to prove to the audience that he gained his fame thanks to his skills, not his name. The need to constantly discover new things in music also accompanied Carl Philipp Emanuel - for this reason, after many years, he resigned from the boring and limiting work of the court composer of Frederick II and moved to Hamburg, where he spread his wings.

The program of the Friday concert of Il Giardino Armonico will be complemented by works by Georg Philipp Telemann and Joseph Haydn. The former was also connected with the family of Johann Sebastian Bach on a private basis - he became the godfather of Carl Philipp Emanuel. The work of the latter composer already represents the classical style, which would undoubtedly not have been created without the music of the sons of the Leipzig cantor.
