Soirée phare pour nos deux artistes en résidence avec la création mondiale très attendue d’une œuvre composée tout spécialement par Michael Jarrell pour le clarinettiste Martin Fröst qui scellera la rencontre d’un compositeur reconnu et d’un virtuose hors normes.

Conçu, selon les termes du compositeur, comme une « Berceuse de la mort », le doux et apaisant Requiem de Fauré sera précédé par les Apparitions que György Ligeti composa dès son passage à l’Ouest, lorsqu’il se réfugia à Vienne après la révolte anti-communiste hongroise en 1956. Dans cette œuvre, il radicalise la technique sérielle par une destruction totale des intervalles, créant un monde d’entrelacements musicaux extrêmement complexe débouchant sur un univers sonore trouble et mystérieux. Influencé par les séduisants Nocturnes du peintre anglais Whistler, Debussy compose ses Trois Nocturnes pour orchestre dont le deuxième, Fêtes, décrit un 14 juillet fantasmé, traversé par un cortège chimérique et coloré.

Designed, in the words of the composer, as a "Lullaby of death", Fauré's soft and soothing Requiem will be preceded by the Apparitions that György Ligeti composed as soon as he moved to the West, when he took refuge in Vienna after the Hungarian anti-communist revolt in 1956. In this work, he radicalizes the serial technique by a total destruction of intervals, creating a world of extremely complex musical intertwinings leading to a troubled and mysterious sound universe. Influenced by the seductive Nocturnesof the English painter Whistler, Debussy composed his Trois Nocturnes for orchestra, the second of which, Fêtes, describes a fantasized July 14, crossed by a chimerical and colorful procession. Flagship evening for our two artists in residence with the eagerly awaited world premiere of a work composed especially by Michael Jarrell for clarinetist Martin Fröst which will seal the meeting of a recognized composer and an extraordinary virtuoso.
