La musique de chambre, surtout en France, souffre encore parfois d’une réputation infondée : musique difficile, abstraite ? Jean-Philippe Clarac et Olivier Delœuil du collectif Le Lab vont nous prouver qu’il n’en est rien, bien au contraire !

Avec leur Schubert Box, proposition plastique et musicale, ils invitent le public à une toute nouvelle approche de la musique de chambre. Une soprano et trois instrumentistes évoluent dans un espace cubique autonome, une boite à images, pour un opéra-concert d’un genre renouvelé, associant musique, lumières et création vidéo. Choisis parmi les pages les plus célèbres de Franz Schubert, dix Lieder sont ici adaptés par le compositeur Bernard Cavanna, qui mêle les sonorités et les ambiances musicales, permettant par exemple à l’accordéon – instrument populaire s’il en est – de faire sa place dans ces joyaux de la musique Romantique. La Schubert Box devient ainsi une boîte à musique sensible et poétique, résolument ouverte à tous.

« Clarac-Deloeuil > Le Lab » est en résidence à l’Opéra de Limoges et a reçu le prix de meilleur créateur d’éléments scéniques 2017/1018 de l’Association Professionnelle de la Critique Théâtre, Musique et Danse.

Chamber music, especially in France, still sometimes suffers from an unfounded reputation: difficult, abstract music? Jean-Philippe Clarac and Olivier Delœuil from the Le Lab collective will prove to us that this is not the case, quite the contrary!

With their Schubert Box, a plastic and musical proposal, they invite the public to a whole new approach to chamber music. A soprano and three instrumentalists evolve in an autonomous cubic space, an image box, for an opera-concert of a renewed genre, combining music, lights and video creation. Chosen from among the most famous works of Franz Schubert, ten Lieder are here adapted by the composer Bernard Cavanna, who mixes sounds and musical atmospheres, allowing for example the accordion – a popular instrument if ever there was one – to make its place in these jewels of Romantic music. The Schubert Box thus becomes a sensitive and poetic music box, resolutely open to everyone.

"Clarac-Deloeuil > Le Lab" is in residence at the Limoges Opera and received the prize for best creator of scenic elements 2017/1018 from the Professional Association of Theater, Music and Dance Critics.
