Along the genealogy of Jesus with which the Gospel of Matthew opens, in the line that leads him back to David there are four women: Tamar, wife of Judas; Rahab, wife of Salmon who begets Boaz; Ruth, wife of Boaz and mother of Obed, father of Jesse who finally begets King David; and Bathsheba who with them begets Solomon. Mary is then added to the ancestors who never saw the Savior. With a completely original production and in the intertwining of singing, acting and music, these ancient mothers are evoked, who do not belong to the people of Israel and, with the exception of Bathsheba, come from the humblest strata of society - sometimes even assuming the role of prostitutes . Biblical exegetes have no doubts: Christ is the son of the "chosen people", but by matrilineal descent he represents all of humanity, without distinction of wealth, belonging and identity.

Lungo la genealogia di Gesù con cui si apre il Vangelo di Matteo, nella linea che lo riconduce a Davide ci sono quattro donne: Tamar, sposa di Giuda; Rahab, moglie di Salmon che genera Booz; Rut, sposa di Booz e madre di Obed, padre di Iesse che infine genera re Davide; e Betsabea che con questi genera Salomone. Alle antenate che mai hanno visto il Salvatore si aggiunge poi Maria. Con una produzione del tutto originale e nell’intreccio di canto, recitazione e musica, si evocano queste antiche madri, che non appartengono al popolo di Israele e, tranne Betsabea, arrivano dagli strati più umili della società – assumendo talvolta pure i panni di prostitute. Gli esegeti biblici non hanno dubbi: Cristo è figlio del “popolo eletto”, ma per discendenza matrilineare rappresenta tutta l’umanità, senza distinzione di censo, di appartenenza e di identità.
