The director about the synopsis

Grammy-nominated composer Missy Mazzoli has won numerous awards for her compositions for major orchestras, chamber music ensembles, films and television series. Her music is melodic and accessible, with innovative and exciting sounds. In 2018, Mazzoli became the first woman to be commissioned by the Metropolitan Opera (together with Jeanine Tesori). 

With her is the librettist Royce Vavrek, with whom she has previously written the operas Proving Up and Breaking the Waves . These works have been hailed as "true opera of our time" (Washington Post on Proving Up ) and "among the best operas of the 21st century" (Opera News on Breaking the Waves ).
