Nadine Sierra, 2018 winner of the Metropolitan Opera’s prestigious Beverly Sills Artist Award, has made her first album for Deutsche Grammophon and Decca Gold, having signed an exclusive contract with the labels last year. There’s a Place for Us was recorded with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Robert Spano. The album presents the soprano’s stunning vocal abilities in an eclectic choice of American classical music – as well as works by Bernstein, the repertoire ranges from Stephen Foster and Douglas Moore to Stravinsky and Villa-Lobos, and on again to Ricky Ian Gordon, Osvaldo Golijov and Christopher Theofanidis, with texts in Spanish and Portuguese as well as English.

The always-evolving Met Orchestra Chamber Ensemble lets members of The Met Orchestra explore the boundless world of chamber music. It’s a vehicle that yields rare experiences for artists and audience alike, such as this program featuring Met Orchestra Music Director and Conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin playing the piano for Elgar’s Piano Quintet. This unique concert also includes a brass quartet by Villa-Lobos plus one of the composer’s Bach-meets-Brazil works, which features renowned soprano Nadine Sierra. Martinů’s Fantasia for Theremin, Oboe, String Quartet, and Piano rounds out the performance.
