80 YEARS LOUIS ANDRIESSEN
With  De Staat  (1976), Louis Andriessen wrote music for eternity. This highly personal mix of Stravinsky, American minimal, European avant-garde and jazz caused a shock wave in the international music world. It is not for nothing that countless musicians and composers call  De Staat  crucial to their development. De Volkskrant praised an earlier performance of  De Staat  by I SOLISTI as “a barking, pulsating, unstoppable experience”.

M is for Man, Music, Mozart  (1991) for ensemble and jazz singer has a very different atmosphere  . Andriessen composed the work 200 years after Mozart's death for Peter Greenaway's film of the same name, which will also be screened. In the alternative creation myth  M is for Man, Music, Mozart  , Andriessen carelessly mixes fragments of the Viennese classics through his exciting, big band-like idiom. The concert opens with  Remote Places  (1989) by Andriessen's former student and good friend Martijn Padding.

Met De Staat (1976) schreef Louis Andriessen muziek voor de eeuwigheid. Deze hoogstpersoonlijke mix van Stravinski, Amerikaanse minimal, Europese avant-garde en jazz veroorzaakte een schokgolf in de internationale muziekwereld. Niet voor niets noemen talloze musici en componisten De Staat cruciaal voor hun ontwikkeling. De Volkskrant roemde een eerdere uitvoering van De Staat door I SOLISTI als “een blaffende, pulserende, onstuitbare belevenis”.

Heel anders van sfeer is M is for Man, Music, Mozart (1991) voor ensemble en jazzzanger. Andriessen componeerde het werk 200 jaar na Mozarts dood bij de gelijknamige film van Peter Greenaway, die ook zal worden vertoond. In de alternatieve scheppingsmythe M is for Man, Music, Mozart mengt Andriessen achteloos flarden van de Weense klassieken door zijn opwindende, bigbandachtige idioom. Het concert opent met Remote Places (1989) van Andriessens oud-student en goede vriend Martijn Padding.
