El Extremo Oriente es el marco elegido por Puccini para situar geográficamente la que sería su obra póstuma. De tal belleza fue su última composición que muchas de sus arias, como ‘Nessun dorma’, ‘In questa reggia’ o ‘Signore, ascolta’, han sobrepasado los escenarios líricos incorporándose al imaginario popular.

La obra inconclusa del compositor toscano está basada en un poema persa y relata la historia de la cruel princesa Turandot, que había decidido que se casaría solamente con aquel que consiguiera averiguar los tres enigmas que ella propondría; de lo contrario, el candidato moriría. Una sucesión de retos, promesas y venganzas desembocarán en un sorprendente final feliz que no compuso el maestro.

Esta producción supone el debut en Ópera de Tenerife del maestro milanés Giampaolo Bisanti, director musical de la Fundación Petruzzelli de Bari desde noviembre de 2016. Sus actuaciones le han valido el reconocimiento como uno de los mejores talentos de su generación, no solo por abarcar un amplio repertorio lírico y sinfónico, sino por su especial sensibilidad con la voz orgánica y orquestal.

His last composition was of such beauty that many of his arias, such as 'Nessun dorma', 'In questa reggia' or 'Signore, ascolta', have surpassed the lyrical stages, joining the popular imagination.

The unfinished work of the Tuscan composer is based on a Persian poem and tells the story of the cruel princess Turandot, who had decided that she would only marry the one who managed to find out the three enigmas that she would propose; otherwise, the candidate would die. A succession of challenges, promises and revenge will lead to a surprising happy ending that the teacher did not compose.

This production marks the debut at Ópera de Tenerife of the Milanese maestro Giampaolo Bisanti, musical director of the Petruzzelli Foundation in Bari since November 2016. His performances have earned him recognition as one of the best talents of his generation, not only for covering a wide lyrical and symphonic repertoire, but also for his special sensitivity with the organic and orchestral voice.
