As a gesture of solidarity with the victims of the war in Ukraine, the Metropolitan Opera New York and the Polish National Opera have brought together leading Ukrainian musicians to form the »Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra«. The orchestra consists of refugee musicians, Ukrainian members of European orchestras and some of the best artists from Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv, Odessa and other cities in Ukraine. The Ukrainian Ministry of Culture and Information Policy supports the project by making it possible to exempt male musicians from military service for touring. One of the initiators is the Canadian-Ukrainian conductor Keri-Lynn Wilson, who will also be in charge. In addition, the Ukrainian violinist Valeriy Sokolov, one of the most important artists of his generation, can now be heard.

Verdi's overture to his opera »The Power of Destiny«, which premiered in 1862 in St. Petersburg's Bolshoi Theatre, is followed by the Second Violin Concerto by the great Ukrainian composer Yevhen Stankovych. The symphonic highlight of the guest performance is Beethoven's »Eroica« – with which the composer composed a manifesto against Napoleon and all tyrants in general.

Als eine Geste der Solidarität mit den Opfern des Krieges in der Ukraine haben die Metropolitan Opera New York und die Polnische Nationaloper führende ukrainische Musiker:innen zum »Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra« zusammengerufen. Das Orchester besteht aus geflüchteten Musiker:innen, ukrainischen Mitgliedern europäischer Orchester und einigen der besten Künstler:innen aus Kyiv, Lwiw, Charkiw, Odessa und anderen Städten der Ukraine. Das ukrainische Ministerium für Kultur und Informationspolitik unterstützt das Projekt, indem es ermöglicht, männliche Musiker für die Tournee vom Militärdienst zu befreien. Zu den Initiatoren zählt die kanadisch-ukrainische Dirigentin Keri-Lynn Wilson, die auch die Leitung übernimmt. Zudem ist jetzt mit dem ukrainischen Violinisten Valeriy Sokolov einer der bedeutendsten Künstler seiner Generation zu erleben.

Auf Verdis Ouvertüre zu seiner Oper »Die Macht des Schicksals«, die 1862 im St. Petersburger Bolschoi-Theater uraufgeführt wurde, folgt das ZWeite Violinkonzert des großen ukrainischen Komponisten Yevhen Stankovych. Sinfonischer Höhepunkt des Gastspiels ist Beethovens »Eroica« – mit der der Komponist ein Manifest gegen Napoleon und überhaupt alle Tyrannen komponierte.
