Leidenschaft ist ein stürmisches, oft überbordendes Begehren, es nicht nur gut, sondern bestmöglich zu wollen und zu tun - oder um es mit den Worten des französischen Schriftstellers Nicolas-Sebastian Chamfort auszudrücken: »Durch die Leidenschaft lebt der Mensch, durch die Vernunft existiert er bloß.«

Pro Brass und die Wiener Singakademie präsentieren neue Arrangements u. a. von Händels »Feuerwerksmusik« und dem Coronation-Anthem »Zadok the Priest«. Bei Letzterem dürfte es übrigens auch in den Ohren leidenschaftlicher Fußballfans klingeln. Hinzu kommen der dritte Satz aus Werner Pirchners »Firewater Music« und das zweichörige »Miserere« von Gregorio Allegri - jenes legendenumwobene Werk, das seit den 1630er-Jahren bis 1870 jährlich in der Karwoche in der Sixtinischen Kapelle intoniert wurde und dessen Kopierverbot der 14-jährige Mozart elegant umging, indem er es nach einmaligem Hören aus dem Gedächtnis niederschrieb.

Passion is a stormy, often exuberant desire to want and do things not only well, but in the best possible way – or to put it in the words of the French writer Nicolas-Sebastian Chamfort: »Through passion, man lives, through reason he merely exists.«

Pro Brass and the Wiener Singakademie present new arrangements of Händel’s »Fireworks Music« and the coronation anthem »Zadok the Priest«, among others. Incidentally, the latter should also ring in the ears of passionate football fans. There is also the third movement from Werner Pirchner’s »Firewater Music« and the two-choir »Miserere« by Gregorio Allegri - the legendary work that was performed every Holy Week in the Sistine Chapel from the 1630s until 1870 and whose copying ban the 14-year-old Mozart elegantly circumvented by writing it down from memory after hearing it once.

An evening full of musical passion and devotion.
