Since its first public performance in 1995, Ensemble Damian has focused almost exclusively on the authentic interpretation of baroque and contemporary music. In the first area, he draws on the rich fund of Czech and Moravian archives, in the second, he mainly collaborates with the composers Vít Zouhar and  Tomáš Hanzlík , who is also the ensemble's artistic director.

Ensemble Damian has a variable number of members depending on the pieces performed. At its largest, it reaches the size of a chamber orchestra and a chamber choir. For his vocalists, the use of a straight voice with a natural color unencumbered by vibrato and other operatic customs is characteristic. He uses copies of period instruments to interpret baroque music. The ensemble also tries to leave the scheme of the classical concert presentation and conceive its programs in thematically connected areas. He is mainly devoted to stage performance of baroque and contemporary operas. The goal is not a historical reconstruction, but a lively and contemporary form that is well understood by a wide range of viewers. In a number of projects, the ensemble combines historical, modern and non-traditional instruments. The ensemble works at the Department of Music Education UP Olomouc .

Ensemble Damian's biggest project in the summer of 2011 was performing at the opera "marathon" of the Prague Baroque Festival, where it performed 72 performances. Since 2013, the ensemble has organized a similar event at home under the name Olomouc Baroque Festival (since 2020, it has been appropriated by a production group and you will no longer see Ensemble Damian at them). In addition, the ensemble regularly organizes the Opera Schrattenbach festival at the end of the year , focused on contemporary musical theater. The troupe operates the Theatrum Schrattenbach collapsible theater stage and uses an extensive depository of original costumes.
