Swiss soprano Gerda Findeisen is known for her radiant vocal timbre paired with a richly expressive musicality.  On the opera stage, some of her most important roles are Zerbinetta (Ariadne auf Naxos by Richard Strauss), Ophélie (Hamlet by Ambroise Thomas), Olympia (Les Contes d'Hoffmann by Jacques Offenbach) and Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni by W. A. Mozart). Gerda Findeisen has had the privilege to collaborate with numerous renowned conductors, including Peter Dala, Kent Nagano, Jean-Philippe Tremblay, Franz-Paul Decker, Wayne Ridell, Nicolau de Figueiredo, and Fritz Näf. She has been a soloist with the Orchestra del Teatro Communale di Bologna, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the Octuor de France and has performed at prestigious festivals, including the Lanaudière Festival, the Zempleni Festival in Hungary, and the New Jersey Baroque Festival (USA).

On the concert-stage, Gerda Findeisen is an avid explorer of new repertoire. She could be heard in Offenes Lied by John Rea, To be Sung upon the Water by Dominick Argento, Beauharnois : Cantate pour un fleuve and in the opera Fata Morgana, written in the fascinating semi-improvised sound painting-style. She has been been the featured soloist in several silent film-productions (The Phantom of the Opera, 1925, The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, 1923), en tournée in France, Italy, Switzerland and Canada. In oratorio, she has been a soloist in the Nelson Mass by Joseph Haydn, The Messiah by G. F. Händel, the Regina Coeli by Pietro Mascagni, the Dixit Dominus by Antonio Vivaldi, and J.S. Bach's Weihnachtsoratorium and H-Moll Messe.

Gerda Findeisen is a graduate of the Musikhochschule Zürich and the Faculté de musique de l'Université de Montréal and received further training at the Orford Arts Centre, Opera Nuova, Nouvel Opéra and Oberlin. Some of her teachers and mentors include Nino Castel, Janet Perry, Louise-Andrée Baril, Dana Nigrim, Richard Margison, Aline Kutan, Jan Simons, Adrienne Savoie, Ionel Pantea, Stuart Hamilton, Jeanette Aster,  Kurt Widmer, Jane Thorner-Mengedoht and Arlene Shrut.

Winner of the Crescendo International Arts Festival-Competition and the WOW-Contest in New York, recipient of bursaries by the Canada Conseil of the Arts and the University of Montreal, she also participated as semi-finalist in the prestigious Classical Singer Magazine- and Centre for Contemporary Opera-competitions in New York. \

Née en Suisse, la soprano Gerda Findeisen est reconnue pour son timbre lumineux et sa grande sensibilité musicale.  À l'opéra, parmi ses rôles les plus importantes, mentionnons Zerbinetta (Ariadne auf Naxos de Richard Strauss), Ophélie (Hamlet d'Ambroise Thomas), Olympia (Les Contes d'Hoffmann de Jacques Offenbach) et Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni de W. Gerda Findeisen a eu la chance de collaborer avec de nombreux chefs d’orchestre de grande renommée, dont Kent Nagano, Jean-Philippe Tremblay, Peter Dala, Franz-Paul Decker, Wayne Ridell, Nicolau de Figueiredo, et Fritz Näf. Elle fût soliste entre autre avec l'Orchestra del Teatro Communale di Bologna, l'Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, l'Octuor de France et s'est produite lors d’importants festivals dont le Festival Lanaudière, le Festival Zempleni en Hongrie, et le New Jersey Baroque Festival.

En concert, Gerda Findeisen se passionne à explorer du nouveau répertoire. On la retrouve dans le Offenes Lied de John Rea, To be Sung upon the Water de Dominick Argento, et dans l'opéra en style extraordinaire du sound-painting Fata Morgana de Gabriel Thibaudeau. Elle a également chanté lors de projections de films muets (Le Fantôme de l'Opéra, 1925, Le Bossu de Notre-Dame, 1923) de Gabriel Thibaudeau, en tournée en France, en Italie, en Suisse et au Canada. Elle a aussi été soliste pour diverses œuvres dont la Messe Nelson de Joseph Haydn, Le Messie de G. F. Handel, le Regina Coeli de Pietro Mascagni, le Dixit Dominus d’Antonio Vivaldi, et l'Oratorio de Noël de J. S. Bach. 

Gerda Findeisen est diplômée du Musikhochschule Zürich et de la Faculté de musique de l'Université de Montréal. Elle s'est perfectionnée au Centre d'Arts Orford, à l’Opera Nuova, au Nouvel Opéra et au Obelin. Parmi ses professeurs et coachs vocaux principaux mentionnons Nino Castel, Janet Perry, Louise-Andrée Baril, Dana Nigrim, Richard Margison, Aline Kutan, Jan Simons, Adrienne Savoie, Ionel Pantea, Stuart Hamilton, Jeanette Aster,  Kurt Widmer, Jane Thorner-Mengedoht et Arlene Shrut.

1er Prix au Crescendo International Arts Festival et boursière du Conseil des arts du Canada et de l'Université de Montréal, elle a participé en tant que demi-finaliste aux prestigieux concours du Magazine Classical Singer et du Centre for Contemporary Opera de New York. \

Geboren und aufgewachsen in der Schweiz begeistert die Sopranistin Gerda Findeisen mit luminösem Timbre und überzeugungsstarkem musikalischen Ausdruck. Frau Findeisen konnte bisher u.a. in den Opernrollen der Zerbinetta (Ariadne auf Naxos, Richard Strauss), Olympia (Contes d'Hoffmann, Jacques Offenbach), Ophélie (Hamlet, Ambroise Thomas), Kristy (House, Christian McLeers), Königin der Nacht (Zauberflöte, W. A. Mozarts), und Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni, W. A. Mozart) zu erleben. Des weiteren trat sie in mehreren renommierten Festivals auf, so z.B. dem Lanaudière Festival, dem Zempleni Festival in Ungarn, und dem New Jersey Baroque Festival - in letzterem als in Purcells Indian Queen. Mehrere Auftritte an renommierten Festivals wie dem Festival Lanaudière, dem Festival Zempleni (Ungarn), und dem New Jersey Baroque Festival (USA) folgten, und sie konnte als Solistin bisher u.a. mit folgenden Dirigenten kollaborieren: Kent Nagano, Peter Dala, Wayne Ridell, James Copland, Gabriel Thibaudeau und Fritz Näf.  

Die Sopranistin widmet sich ebenfalls mit Leidenschaft dem Kammermusik- und zeitgenössischem Repertoire und war in John Reas Offenes Lied, Dominick Argentos To be Sung upon the Water und in Gabriel Thibaudeaus Oper Fata Morgana im Soundpainting-Stil zu hören. Anlässlich mehrerer Tourneen in Frankreich, Italien, Schweiz und Kanada sang sie in verschiedenen Stummfilm-Produktionen die Sopranpartie (Phantom of the Opera, 1925, Der Glöckner von Notre-Dame, 1923). Im Bereich des Oratoriums war sie unter anderm Solistin in Joseph Haydns Nelsonmesse, G. F. Händels Messias, Pietro Mascagnis Regina Coeli, Antonio Vivaldis Dixit Dominum, und Bachs Weihnachtsoratorium. 

Gerda Findeisen erhielt ihr Operndiplom an der Musikhochschule Zürich (Jane Mengedoht) und ihr Solistendiplom an der Université de Montréal (Adrienne Savoie). Weitere Studien folgten am Centre d'Arts Orford, und an den Festivals Opera Nuova, Nouvel Opéra und Oberlin. Zu ihren Lehrern und Mentoren gehören u.a. Nino Castel, Janet Perry, Louise-Andrée Baril, Dana Nigrim, Richard Margison, Aline Kutan, Jan Simons, Adrienne Savoie, Ionel Pantea, Stuart Hamilton, Jeanette Aster,  Kurt Widmer, Jane Thorner-Mengedoht und Arlene Shrut.
