HPO Songbirds present regular informal showcase concerts. During these concerts the children perform the new songs they have learned. These songs are challenging, varied, and interesting, and they often involve simple two-part harmony and rounds, as well as actions to develop musical awareness and rhythm.

​In the showcase concerts the children also have the opportunity to share piano pieces, or solo instrumental and vocal items with piano accompaniment if they wish. These performance opportunities help to build confidence and develop musicality. 

HPO Songbirds also have the exciting challenge of joining larger more formal concerts with the talented young professional musicians of Hastings Philharmonic Orchestra and with the Hastings Philharmonic Choir. HPO Songbirds were thrilled to perform individual items and participate in whole choir pieces with the orchestra in the sold-out HPO Christmas Gala Concert in December 2022.

In February 2022 the children were excited to participate in their first opera performances - Puccini's La Bohème - and they joined Opera South East for performances of Bizet's Carmen at the White Rock Theatre in April 2023.

In June/July 2023 they will be participating in puppetry workshops leading up to a performance of Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf as well as performing an evening of children's opera choruses.
