2I would like to express how Julia Szproch was a great Vixen. The flexibility of her voice has to be compared to the flexibility of her body language. I had a greatest pleasure to coach her in that very specific part.Janacek wrote that character with the idea that She is the ideal woman into the most charming animal. There is one moment when the Fox tells her " You are the ideal modern woman". I think that Julia offered us the perfect combination of childish spontaneity (in the beginning of the opera) and female charm later. She was running all around the stage,singing a difficult part,without any kind of hesitation,or restriction. If i would have to recommend a Vixen in the future,it would be Julia!
I had the immense pleasure of working with Julia Szproch at the Paris Opera recently, an incredibly talented and gifted young singer. Children soloists from my choir, the Chœur d’Enfants Sotto Voce, in residence at the famous Théâtre du Châtelet here in Paris, took part in a marvelous production of Janáček’s The Little Vixen this year at the Bastille Opera. Julia Szproch sang the leading role and was hailed by the critics as an exceptional and upcoming talent. She greatly impressed the artistic team with her endless energy, her enthousiasm and willingness to give it her all, every day, for over a month. She has an absolutely beautiful voice, great pitch and intonation and a fantastic sense of musicality and phrasing. The children soloists just adored working her as did the entire creative team. She brought a freshness to the production that helped make the run at the opera a huge success. I sincerely hope that she will have the successful career that she deserves !
