The new stars of the opera world will rise once more in the Istanbul skies at the IXth Leyla Voice Competition. The application period is now open for the 2018 competition! 

Organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV), Borusan Sanat, and Accademia Teatro alla Scala, the triennial competition is dedicated to the estimable memory of “La Diva Turca” Leyla Gencer and it was held under her patronage until she passed away in 2008. 

The Leyla Gencer Voice Competition is honoured to have Renato Bruson to preside the jury in its IXth edition. The competition distinguishes for its international jury, which includes some of the most influential figures from different fields in the profession, as much as for its previous winners, who have subsequently launched on truly international careers. The competition's previous winners such as the South African soprano Pretty Yende, Georgian sopranos Nino Machaidze and Anita Rachvelishvili, Argentinean tenor Marcello Alvarez and Yugoslavian baritone Nikola Mijailovic are now counted amongst the brightest stars of the opera world. This edition’s preliminary auditions will once more provide an opportunity for young opera singers across all continents to showcase their talent.

Opera dünyasına kazandırdığı genç yeteneklerle uluslararası müzik çevrelerinde çok konuşulan Leyla Gencer Şan Yarışması, bir kez daha opera dünyasının yeni yıldızlarını belirlemek üzere yola çıkıyor.

Tüm dünyanın “La Diva Turca” olarak ayakta alkışladığı Leyla Gencer’in onuruna ve 2008’deki vefatına kadar bizzat kendisinin katılımıyla gerçekleştirilen yarışma kısa zamanda dünya çapında bugünkü saygın konumuna ulaştı.

İstanbul Kültür Sanat Vakfı, Borusan Sanat ve La Scala Tiyatrosu Akademisi tarafından düzenlenen IX. Leyla Gencer Şan Yarışması'nın jürisine Renato Bruson başkanlık edecek. Opera alanında uzman ve etkili üyelerden oluşan uluslararası jürisi kadar, kariyerlerinde dünya çapında hızlı bir çıkış yakalayan finalistleri ile de adından övgüyle söz ettiren yarışmada yine Uzakdoğu'dan Amerika'ya farklı ülkelerden genç şancılar yeteneklerini gösterme fırsatı bulacak.
