In Pomadia, the royal court is preparing for the name day of the ruler. However, King Pomade has a serious problem on his shoulders: he does not have a single dress to wear to the ceremony, as he
has worn them all at least once. Two alien weavers promise the king a woven cloth of marvelous fabric, not really anything like, “ Our miracle cloth is a magical thing. / Magic stuff because no one can see it! The wise and the just shall see, and be dazzled. / But the stupid, the bastard sees nothing of it. ”György Ránki wrote his children's opera based on the tale of Hans Christian Andersen, his musical world is built from the treasure trove of Hungarian folk songs- to name just a few) and curves all the way to the jazzy sound. Károlyi composed the work for Amy's brilliantly witty textbook with the composer's sparkling musical jokes, making it a crooked mirror in front of the hypocritical world of the royal court. Although it is a fairy tale opera, both the music and the production of Attila Tornykőy dazzle the audience from the youngest to the oldest.

Pomádiában, a királyi udvar az uralkodó névnapjára készül. Pomádé királynak azonban komoly gond nehezedik a vállára: egyetlen olyan ruhája sincs ugyanis, amit az ünnepségre felvehetne, hisz mindet
viselte már legalább egyszer. Két idegen takács csodás szövetből szőtt ruhát ígér a királynak, valóban nem akármilyent: „A mi csodakelménk varázslatos holmi. / Varázslatos holmi, mert nem láthatja bárki! / A bölcs, az igaz látja, s elkáprázik tőle. / De a buta, a hitvány mit sem lát belőle.” Ránki György gyermekoperáját Hans Christian Andersen meséje alapján írta, zenei világa a magyar népdalkincsből építkezik (felcsendül az A malomnak nincsen köve, az A bolhási kertek alatt, az Anyám, édesanyám, elfeslett a csizmám – hogy csupán néhányat említsünk), és egészen a jazzes hangzásig ível. Károlyi Amy bravúrosan szellemes szövegkönyvére komponálta a művet a zeneszerző sziporkázó zenei tréfáival, amivel görbe tükröt tart a királyi udvar képmutató világa elé. Bár meseoperáról van szó, mind a zene, mind Tornykőy Attila rendezése elkápráztatja a közönséget a legifjabb nézőktől a legidősebbekig.
