Even if it is the third symphony concert of the season, it can be called a concert of the beginnings. All three works on the program are at the beginning of a series: Haydn's Le Matin is the first of three symphonies which, based on his oratorio, are nicknamed The Three Times of the Day . Jost's trumpet concerto Pietà is the first of three pieces that make up his Requiem. Ludwig van Beethoven's C major symphony gives an idea of ​​the peak performances the composer would be capable of in the next eight symphonies.

Haydn's sixth symphony is nicknamed Der Morgen ; this probably comes from Haydn himself and was not added by a publisher, as is so often the case. Accompanied by melodies reminiscent of birdsong, the music describes the dawn of a day.

In contrast to this is Pietà by Christian Jost. This contemporary concert is dedicated to the jazz trumpeter Chet Baker and shows many musical echoes of his work without being a pure jazz concert itself or quoting Baker literally. The exceptional Karlsruhe soloist Simon Höfele comes to the STAATSTHEATER for Pietà . He studied in Karlsruhe and is now an internationally sought-after trumpeter and winner of the Opus Klassik prize. Höfele is therefore the perfect choice for Pietà , as he is a self-confessed fan of Chet Baker and regularly plays works by Christian Jost.

Beethoven wrote his first symphony at the age of 29. For a long time he had hesitated to compose in this genre; he wanted to stand up to the legacy of Mozart and the quality of Haydn. Beethoven strictly adheres to the usual forms and establishes themes that Haydn might have thought of as well. Nevertheless, Beethoven's personal style is already showing through: neither Mozart nor Haydn are so urgent and dynamically contrasting. In addition, Beethoven begins his work on a dissonance. Outrageous! Nevertheless, the premiere in 1800 was a success.

Auch wenn es das dritte Sinfoniekonzert der Saison ist, kann man es ein Konzert der Anfänge nennen. Alle drei Werke auf dem Programm stehen am Beginn einer Reihe: Haydns Le Matin ist die erste von drei Sinfonien, die angelehnt an sein Oratorium den Beinamen Die drei Tageszeiten tragen. Josts Trompetenkonzert Pietà ist das erste von drei Stücken, die sein Requiem bilden. Ludwig van Beethovens C-Dur-Sinfonie lässt schon erahnen, zu welchen Höchstleistungen der Komponist in den kommenden acht Sinfonien fähig sein sollte.

Haydns sechste Sinfonie trägt den Beinamen Der Morgen; dieser stammt wahrscheinlich von Haydn selbst und wurde nicht – wie so oft – von einem Verleger hinzugefügt. Untermalt von Melodien, die an Vogelgesang erinnern, beschreibt die Musik den Anbruch eines Tages.

Für Pietà kommt der Karlsruhe Ausnahme-Solist Simon Höfele ins STAATSTHEATER. Er hat in Karlsruhe studiert und ist inzwischen ein international gefragter Trompeter und Opus-Klassik-Preisträger. Höfele ist deshalb die perfekte Wahl für Pietà, da er selbst bekennender Fan von Chet Baker ist und regelmäßig Werke von Christian Jost spielt.

Beethoven schrieb seine erste Sinfonie mit 29 Jahren. Lange hatte er gezögert, in dieser Gattung zu komponieren; wollte er doch vor dem Erbe Mozarts und der Qualität Haydns bestehen. Streng hält sich Beethoven an die üblichen Formen und etabliert Themen, die Haydn vielleicht auch hätten einfallen können. Trotzdem schlägt Beethovens persönlicher Stil bereits durch: So drängend und dynamisch kontrastierend sind weder Mozart noch Haydn. Zusätzlich beginnt Beethoven sein Werk auf einer Dissonanz. Unerhört! Trotzdem war die Uraufführung 1800 ein Erfolg.
