Drei bedeutenden Frauen der Musikgeschichte gehört das 7. Sinfoniekonzert. Es wird mit einer Ouvertüre von Louise Farrenc, der ersten weiblichen Professorin des Pariser Konservatoriums, eröffnet: Durch ihren Lehrer Anton Reicha in der deutschen Klassik wurzelnd, schlug sie darin bereits 1834 deutlich den Weg zur französischen Romantik ein.

Rund 80 Jahre später gelang der 19-jährigen Lili Boulanger mit ‚Faust et Hélène‘ eine musikalische Sensation: Mit ihrer Adaption von Goethes ‚Faust II‘ gewann sie 1913 als erste Frau den begehrten „Prix de Rome“ und wurde schlagartig berühmt.

„Ich bin eine Frau – und habe schwarzes Blut in meinen Adern“, so benannte die 1887 geborene Florence Price die „Handicaps“ auf ihrem Weg zum Erfolg. In ihrer 3. Sinfonie von 1938/40 vereint sie klassische Formen und Elemente ihrer Herkunft – mit perkussiver Kraft und mitreißenden Rhythmen.

The 7th symphony concert belongs to three important women in music history. It opens with an overture by Louise Farrenc, the first female professor at the Paris Conservatory: rooted in German classicism through her teacher Anton Reicha, she clearly set out on the path to French Romanticism as early as 1834.

Around 80 years later, the 19-year-old Lili Boulanger created a musical sensation with 'Faust et Hélène': with her adaptation of Goethe's 'Faust II' she became the first woman to win the coveted 'Prix de Rome' in 1913 and became instantly famous.
