After the successful production of "Die Oresteie", Mario Holetzeck and his directing team are once again working in Bautzen.

In Athens, Theseus' royal marriage to Hippolyta, queen of the Amazons, is imminent when a disgruntled father demands that the ruler use the law to force his daughter Hermia to marry the unloved Demetrius
. But Hermia loves Lysander, while her friend Helena is in love with Demetrius. The night before the wedding, Puck, in double guise, causes the whole stage to become one
magical dream forest transformed. The four young people flee into this dream forest and wander around in it just like the Athenian ruling couple, who, as the elf king Oberon and his wife Titania, get jealous. Oberon enlists the Pucks to get him a magic flower to get revenge on Titania. Anyone who gets the flower juice in their eyes falls in love with the first creature they see. Since a wonderfully funny troupe of craftsmen is also rehearsing a play for the wedding celebration in the forest, the awakening Titania sees the main actor Zettl, who has been transformed into a donkey by the Pucks, and immediately falls madly in love with him, to the delight of Oberon. But in the end, every pot finds its lid and the craftsmen are allowed to use theirs
perform a painstakingly rehearsed love tragedy about Pyramus and Thisbe in front of the whole company.

Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" is arguably the most popular comedy of all time. The Bautzen production is being developed in cooperation with the orchestra of the Sorbian National Ensemble by guest director Mario Holetzeck and his team with the Bautzen Theater and conjured up on stage. The famous incidental music by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, arranged live by Tasso Schille, who also conducts the baton, forms the sound carpet.
