Opera "Aida" by Giuseppe Verdi / Giuseppe Verdi "Aida" "Aida" is an opera by Giuseppe Verdi in 4 acts, 7 scenes, to the libretto by Antonio Ghislanzoni based on the scenario of the Egyptologist F. O. F. Marietta. Written by order of the Egyptian khedive Ismail Pasha for the Cairo Opera House, the construction of which was timed to coincide with the opening of the Suez Canal. The action takes place in Memphis and Thebes during the reign of the pharaohs. The opera tells about the unhappy love of the leader of the Egyptian troops, Radames, and the slave of Aida, the daughter of the Ethiopian king, whose troops are fighting the Egyptians.
