Dokument o opeře Alcina, kterou napsal Georg Friedrich Händel. V Janáčkově divadle v Brně se hraje od sezóny 2021/22.

Mocná kouzelnice Alcina vytvořila na ostrově velkolepý palác v pře­krásné krajině, kam láká milence do sítí své moci. Jedním z nich je i křesťanský rytíř Ruggiero, který podlehne jejím kouzlům a zapomene na svou snoubenku Bradamante. Ta se ho však nehodlá vzdát a v pře­vleku se vydává Ruggiera zachránit.

Největším kouzlem Händelovy opery je však jeho hudba a Alcina v sobě skrývá jedny z nejkrásnější hudebních čísel napsaných pro lidský hlas, protože málokterý autor dokázal projevit ve svých dílech tak výjimečnou melodickou invenci, schopnost dramatického cítění, a především hluboké porozumění pro to, co se skrývá v hlubinách lidských duší. Po úspěšném nastudování Purcellova Dido a Aeneas se do brněnské opery vrátil dirigent Václav Luks a tentokrát si vzal s sebou celý orchestr Collegium 1704, který dnes patří k nejlepším ansámblů na poli historicky poučené interpretace. Diváci se tak mohou těšit nejen na skvělé pěvecké výkony, ale i na hudbu v provedení na barokní nástroje. Partnerem inscenace je nejen Colle­gium 1704, ale i francouzská divadla v Caen a Versailles.

The powerful sorceress Alcina has created a magnificent palace in beautiful countryside upon an island, where she lures lovers into her web of power. One of them is the Christian knight Ruggiero, who succumbs to her spells and forgets about his fiancée Bradamante. However, she does not want to give him up and sets out in disguise to save him. The most charming aspect of Händel´s work is the music, and Alcina contains some of the most beautiful pieces that have ever been written for the human voice. Only a few authors have ever managed to use such exceptional melodic invention in their works, to express such dramatic feeling and, above all, such a deep understanding of that which is hidden in the depths of the human soul. After his successful staging of Purcell´s Dido and Aeneas, Václav Luks will be returning to the Brno Opera, this time with the entire Collegium 1704 orchestra, which today is one of the best ensembles specialising in the historically informed interpretation of musical works. Spectators can look forward not only to great singing performances, but also to music performed with Baroque instruments.  Alongside Collegium 1704, French theatres in Caen and Versailles are also partners in the production. Händel wrote his 34th opera in the spring of 1735 for the Theatre Royal in Covent Garden, which boasted expensive stage equipment that made it possible to achieve spectacular theatrical effects. The magical theme of the work, which is originally based on a part of Ariosto´s poem Orlando Furioso, was a good fit for Covent Garden’s capabilities. It will be the first time that Händel´s  Alcina is performed on the Brno stage.

Wenn wir Träume wahr machen.

Die mächtige Zauberin Alcina hat auf einer Insel einen prächtigen Palast in einer wunderschönen Landschaft erschaffen, wo sie ihre Liebhaber in die Fänge ihrer Macht lockt. Einer von ihnen ist der christliche Ritter Ruggiero, der ihrem Zauber erliegt und seine Verlobte Bradamante vergisst. Doch diese will ihn sich nicht nehmen lassen und macht sich in Verkleidung auf, Ruggiero zu retten. Das Zauberhafteste an der Oper ist jedoch Händels Musik. Alcina birgt eine der schönsten Musiknummern, die je für die menschliche Stimme geschrieben wurden, denn kaum ein anderer Autor hat es in seinen Werken zu einem so außergewöhnlichen melodischen Einfallsreichtum, einer solchen Fähigkeit des dramatischen Empfindens und vor allem zu einem so großen Einfühlungsvermögen gebracht für das, was in den Tiefen der menschlichen Seele verborgen liegt. Nach der erfolgreichen Einstudierung von Purcells Dido und Aeneas kehrt Dirigent Václav Luks diesmal mit seinem ganzen Orchester Collegium 1704, das gegenwärtig zu den besten Ensembles auf dem Feld der historisch informierten Aufführungspraxis zählt, an die Brünner Oper zurück. So dürfen sich die Zuschauer denn nicht nur auf herausragende Gesangsleistungen, sondern auch auf den Klang der Barockinstrumente freuen. Partner der Inszenierung sind neben dem Collegium 1704 auch die französischen Theater in Caen und Versailles. Händel schrieb seine vierunddreißigste Oper im Frühjahr 1735 für das Royal Theatre in Covent Garden, das mit seiner aufwendigen Bühnentechnik auch spektakuläre szenische Effekte ermöglichte. Dem entsprach auch die Zauberthematik, die ihren Ursprung in einem Teil von Ariosts Versepos  Orlando furioso hat. Auf der Brünner Opernbühne wird Händels Alcina zum ersten Mal überhaupt zu erleben sein.
