With Emmanuel Krivine and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, violinist Joshua Bell will be performing one of the major works of the concert repertoire, Brahms’s Concerto in D major, which Hans von Bülow — terrified by the sheer virtuosity of the score — considered “a concerto against the violin”.

Le violoniste Joshua Bell interprète l’un des piliers du répertoire concertant, le Concerto en ré de Brahms, où Hans von Bülow, effrayé par la virtuosité de ses pages, entendait "un concerto contre le violon", avec Emmanuel Krivine et le Chamber Orchestra of Europe.

"Le meilleur orchestre de chambre du monde", rien de moins : c’est ainsi que la BBC présente le Chamber Orchestra of Europe. Né il y a une bonne trentaine d’années du désir de musiciens de l’Orchestre des jeunes de la communauté européenne, chapeauté par Abbado, de pouvoir continuer à jouer ensemble, le COE a su attirer dès ses débuts l’attention du monde musical européen. Il a développé des collaborations à long terme avec des chefs comme Claudio Abbado, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Paavo Berglund ou Bernard Haitink. Il propose ici, sous la baguette de Emmanuel Krivine, un programme romantique où le Concerto pour violon de Brahms, qui répond à la Symphonie n° 2 de son mentor Schumann, est l’occasion de réinviter l’Américain Joshua Bell.
