Maltese-born tenor Joseph Calle is one of the most successful concert artists of the 21st century. Due to his honeyed voice, reminiscent of legendary Italian opera singers, he was nicknamed the new Pavarotti on tour. He made his Malta debut in 1997 with the role of Macduff in Macbeth , and years later won the Carus Competition in Milan and the Domingo Operalia. The path later led him to the stages of world opera houses, including the Covent Garden Royal Opera House in London, the Vienna State Opera, the German Opera in Berlin, the Metropolitan Opera, the Strasbourg and Washington Operas, and collaborated with many renowned artists. such as Ana Netrebko, Elina Garanča, Plàcido Domingo, Rolando Villazón, Bryan Terfel, Sir Antonio Pappano, Ricardo Chailly and others. His operatic repertoire ranges from works by French composers to great lyrical and veristic tenor roles. At the fifth Winter Festival he will perform with the most beautiful opera arias with the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Italian conductor Gianluca Marcianò.
