It was the most noted Zurich opera event of the 2018/19 season: Kirill Serebrennikov, Russian director whose house arrest in Moscow prevented his presence in Zurich, staged Mozart's Così fan tutte with the help of his closest collaborators at the Zurich Opera House. What had already caused a wide media response before the premiere due to the highly unusual situation was recognized as an outstanding artistic event after the premiere: the result was an extremely dense, radically contemporary performance that delighted audiences and critics alike. In the revival of this production, which was created under very special conditions, there is a reunion with many singers who already made a significant contribution to the success of the performance in the premiere series: Ruzan Mantashyan as Fiordiligi, Anna Goryachova as Dorabella, Rebeca Olvera as Despina and Michael Nagy as Don Alfonso. Alexey Neklyudov and Konstantin Shushakov will appear as Ferrando and Guglielmo for the first time, with Ottavio Dantone taking over as musical director.Cosi fan tutte. At first everything seems simple and unshakable here: Ferrando and Guglielmo love their fiancés Dorabella and Fiordiligi. The men are willing to bet that the women will be loyal to them. Also with Don Alfonso, who is sure that he can show them the opposite with an experiment. But what was planned as a harmless game develops into a cruel open-heart experiment that finally pulls the rug out from under everyone involved: because the characters have to recognize that what they think they are feeling and what they are actually feeling , are in painful contradiction to each other. Mozart looks deeply into the hearts of his characters, who are tossed about by their emotions; Like no other, he knows how to use his music to tell of the bewildering complexity of their emotional states. At the same time, Mozart is not a moralist - he does not condemn his characters, and so it becomes a music theater that presents the unfathomable in a wonderfully light and thoroughly comedic way.
